The Pink Tournament: Continuing a Legacy of Awareness and Community

Each year, the Nottinghamshire netball community comes together for a very special event that blends preseason match play with remembrance. The Pink Tournament, hosted by the Nottinghamshire Netball Association, stands as a tribute to the late Chloe Gibson, a much-loved colleague at Notts County Foundation who sadly passed away from cancer.

Originally founded by Vicki Ashman, the tournament began as a way to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer after Chloe’s diagnosis. What started as a meaningful gesture of support for Chloe has since grown into a cherished annual fixture in the county’s netball calendar.

Today, the Pink Tournament continues not only to fundraise for important causes, but also to support Notts County Foundation – the place Chloe loved working for. Each year, teams from across the region join together ahead of the new season to compete, connect, and celebrate the sense of community.

At its heart, the event is about more than sport; it’s about legacy, togetherness, and making a positive impact.

“The Pink Tournament is a powerful reminder of how sport can bring people together for something truly meaningful. We come together each preseason not only to play netball, but to support the organisation that Chloe cared about. It’s a day filled with purpose, community, and heartfelt connection.”

The Foundation are grateful to everyone involved in the Pink Tournament for their continued support, generosity, and commitment to celebrating her memory.

Chloe remains an inspiration to all of us. Whist this tournament has grown,  it still ensures that her spirit lives on – uniting players, friends, and supporters each year.
