White Ribbon UK Collaboration at Meadow Lane

Notts County Foundation have joined Nottinghamshire Police & Crime Commissioners in calling for football fans and communities to pledge their support to end violence against women and girls.

A proud new partnership has formed with the Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Gary Godden and Angela Kandola respectively to support White Ribbon UK, a leading national charity working to end men’s violence against women and girls.

We joined forces to create a powerful awareness video filmed at Meadow Lane Stadium, featuring Notts County First Team players and the Foundation’s CEO Ajay Sharma, making their pledge as allies.

White Ribbon UK encourages men and boys to take an active stance in preventing violence against women and girls, challenging harmful behaviours, and using their influence to help build a safer, more equal society. Violence against women and girls accounts for roughly 20% of all recorded crime, and 1 in 4 women experience domestic abuse in their lifetime. The need for allyship has never been more urgent.

“Football has an incredible reach, and with that comes a responsibility. By standing alongside White Ribbon UK and Nottinghamshire Police, we’re using the power of the club badge and our platform to send out a clear message: violence against women and girls has no place in our community. We want every fan, participant, and family connected to Meadow Lane to know that we are committed to being part of the solution.” – Ajay Sharma, CEO at Notts County Foundation

The campaign centres around allyship, men challenging misogyny, calling out harmful language and behaviours, and pledging never to use, excuse, or stay silent about violence against women and girls. By coming together with the Police & Crime Commissioner’s team, we aim to amplify this message across our fanbase and beyond.

The White Ribbon video will be shared across our social media channels, and we encourage supporters to watch, share, and consider making their own pledge:

“I promise never to use, excuse or remain silent about men’s violence against women.”

This collaboration reflects our ongoing commitment to equality, safety, and inclusion, both on and off the pitch.
