Portland Centre squash court refurbishment completes

Notts County Foundation is proud to announce the completion of the Portland Centre’s squash court refurbishment, which began earlier this month (October 2021).

The updated courts will host group junior squash every Sunday morning from 9:30am-11:15am, with England coach Russell Lomas and his team leading the sessions. Suitable for those aged 5-15-years-old, sessions start from just £4.15 per person, and all equipment is provided.

Venetia Sanders, Head of Commercial at Notts County Foundation, said: “We are thrilled to have completed the refurbishment of our squash courts and in doing so, generate a high-quality facility for members of the local community. We are passionate about providing as many different sporting opportunities to those living across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, and with the support of Russell and his team, we are confident that individuals of all ages and abilities will have a fantastic time playing squash at the Portland Centre.

“With the Portland Centre having recently entered a team into the Nottinghamshire Squash League, the plan is to grow our offering to members, and hopefully, be in a position to enter a further two to three teams in 2022.”

Russell Lomas, Coach at England Squash, said: “I am absolutely delighted that Notts County Foundation has agreed to invest in this facility. It pays back all of the long-suffering players who have had to be patient while COVID-19 restrictions eased for indoor sports. This excellent new set up will allow us to both nurture and develop the talented players that we already have at the club, and also attract new players to come and give squash a go.”

Following the refurbishment, an innovative new online squash court booking system is due to be available in November 2021.
