Notts County Women FC announce health and wellness partnership ahead of 2021-22 season

Notts County Women FC has announced an innovative new health and wellness partnership with the Portland Centre ahead of the 2021-22 East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League (EMWFL) season.

Based in the heart of the Meadows on Muskham Street, the Portland Centre is a community facility operated by Notts County Foundation. The facility offers a wide variety of sporting amenities, including a sports hall, squash courts, gym, fitness studio and traditional swimming pool, and is easily accessible to people who live locally, with onsite car parking, as well as ease of access via public transport.

Adam Dunleavy, Manager of Notts County Women FC, said: “We are delighted to continue our close tie with Notts County Foundation by entering into a new partnership with the Portland Centre. The facilities have undergone a wonderful transformation and the elite gym provides us with the perfect environment for our strength and conditioning needs. The Portland Centre will become the hub of all our fitness programmes and the training suite will become our analysis classroom for the season.”

Following the installation of the Portland Centre’s new gym equipment, Notts County Women FC will utilise the upgraded facilities for all strength and conditioning training sessions throughout the season.

Adam continued: “As staff, we have been working hard to add to our offering to the Notts County Women FC team. The partnership with the Portland Centre, alongside our training and matchday venue at Basford United, provides us with a set-up that punches well above what most clubs at our level, and indeed higher, can offer. Having previously worked for over seven years at the Notts County Foundation, I know just how life-changing and important the work they do is for the community of Nottinghamshire. I am incredibly proud to see this partnership established and we look forward to supporting the Foundation in their projects over the coming year and beyond.”

Holly Fowler, Captain of Notts County Women FC, said: “The whole team is delighted to be back training at the Portland Centre. The new and improved space and facilities are very impressive and will play a big part in our fitness goals over the coming season.”

Venetia Sanders, Head of Commercial at Notts County Foundation, said: “Everyone at Notts County Foundation is delighted to welcome the Notts County women’s team back to the Portland Centre. We have been working incredibly hard over the last few months to improve the facility and create a truly unique space that the surrounding community can be proud to use at their leisure.”
