Notts County Foundation will be facilitating a Christmas donation appeal in support of the Sneinton Salvation Army prior to Notts County Football Club’s 3pm kick off against Southend United in the Vanarama National League on Saturday 11th December.
Sneinton Salvation Army, which is based at the William Booth Memorial Complex, serves members of the local community through tailored job support, coordinating regular food banks, and working towards tackling the issue of homelessness. Throughout 2022, the Sneinton Salvation Army plan to host frequent social gatherings and sessions for refugees and asylum seekers that have moved to Nottingham at a number of locations across the city.
Representatives from Notts County Foundation will be stationed outside the Notts County Foundation offices at Meadow Lane between 1:30-3:00pm asking for donations of coffee, tea, long-life milk, and biscuits, as well as handwritten Christmas cards for individuals and families supported by the Sneinton Salvation Army.
Sam Crawford, Head of Business Development at Notts County Foundation, said: “We are delighted to be working alongside the National Ice Centre to support the invaluable work of the Sneinton Salvation Army. During what has been a very turbulent few years, unity and community spirit is more important than ever before, and we hope that, through this matchday donation, we can play a small part in supporting the Sneinton Salvation Army’s social action plans and projects within Nottingham.”
Sarah McCamphill, Pioneer Community Leader at Sneinton Salvation Army, said: “During what has been a continually changing social landscape during 2021, we have continued to support individuals and families within Sneinton on a daily basis. Whether through our weekly food bank or wellbeing support, we have worked to serve people who have wide range of physical, mental, and emotional needs, and we are pleased to be working in collaboration with another local charity to help change the lives of local people.
“Any donations that Notts County Football Club supporters could make on Saturday would be greatly appreciated and help us to make a big difference to the lives of asylum seekers and refugees who now call Nottingham their home. In particular, handwritten Christmas cards would, no doubt, put smiles on people’s faces and make them feel welcome in the community.”
