110-Mile Staff Charity Fundraiser to preserve The Portland Centre

In a remarkable display of solidarity and commitment to their community, the dedicated staff at Notts County Foundation have embarked on a challenging charity fundraiser as part of their ‘Raise the Roof‘ campaign. Starting on the 22nd January, they will walk or run 110 miles in 5 days.

The initiative aims to generate essential funds to keep their beloved community leisure hub, The Portland Centre, open and thriving. Starting on the 22nd January, and to mark the 110th year of The Portland Centre being open, the Foundation’s workforce will be walking or running an impressive 110 miles over the course of five days, symbolising their shared dedication to the cause.

The Portland Centre, a cornerstone of community engagement and wellbeing, is facing challenges that threaten its continued operation. In response, the Notts County community have rallied together to support the ‘Raise the Roof’ campaign. The target of £15,000 is in sight, with the current figure at over £11,000 raised.

The Foundation’s staff will collectively cover a distance of 110 miles through a combination of walking and running. This inspiring feat is a testament to their commitment to the community and The Portland Centre. By pooling their efforts, the team aims to achieve their fundraising target while fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie among themselves.

Sam Crawford, Chief Financial Officer of Notts County Foundation, expressed his enthusiasm for the campaign, stating, “The ‘Raise the Roof’ campaign is not just about securing the financial future of The Portland Centre; it’s about our community coming together to make a tangible difference.
